A Birthday Giveaway

Today is my 29th birthday.
I just may be holding onto my '20's tighter than I am holding onto the lil' dude's babyhood ...

Anyways. I wanted to celebrate with all of you! And besides, like my Grandma S. always says, "be thankful for each day your feet hit the floor. The alternative is much worse."

Me, at three!

Leave me a comment and tell me your favorite birthday memory ever, and I'll pick one of my faithful readers to win a fabulous Mama prize package containing a few of my favorite things. Don't worry, these are Mama favorites, not necessarily motherhood items like pacifiers or burp rags or nipple guards, what have you. Trust me, you'll like what I have to offer!

I'll pick a random winner Tuesday, 4/7, at 7pm CST.

And, for giggles, my favorite birthday memory is that of my 24th birthday. The Dad threw me my one and only surprise party ever. And, I wore a cowboy hat. Happy birthday to me!

My favorite birthday was definitely NOT the one when my dad brought my puppy to the humane society. I was in my new pink outfit. Do you remember those matching tank tops and skirts with the built in tight knee length shorts? Wanted that outfit forever and finally got one. I wore it to the humane society. The puppy peed on me in the truck, on my new outfit. As we left the humane society I asked my dad what would happen if no one adopted our puppy. His answer: they’ll kill her. I started crying and he thought it was because I had pee on my new outfit.
I’m not sure if I ever had a good birthday until I met Shane. Last year was perhaps my favorite. We ate at our favorite restaurant (we’re regulars), and went to a movie. I can’t remember what movie it was (maybe Mama Mia!), but it was perfect. Perfect, relaxing, and uninterrupted by drama. Probably won’t win your prize, but I am actually excited for my birthday this year. I want a repeat of last year: dinner, movie, coffee, and time with my best friend (Shane).

oooo! OOO! Pick me! PICK MEEEEE! I suppose that means I should come up with some type of story then, eh? Let's see...my favorite birthday. Would have to be my 30th (there that gives you something to look forward to!). Lucas had just been born 2 weeks before and my lovely sisters flew down to Virginia and spent the day at a spa with me and a newborn (we took turns getting serviced/holding the baby). Then we headed to my house where my hubby had set up a surprise party for me complete with all my favorite foods (prepare yourself) cheese curds, pickle chips, McDonalds cheeseburgers, cheese quesadilla's from my favorite local mexican place...do you see a trend here? It was a fun time despite the fact that it was attended my numerous munchkins under the age of 5. There. Did I win? Hope you have a good birthday - time to update the profile!! Looking forward to the before/after mullet pics.

Well since I am a Leap year girl, I need to pick one of my 'real" birthdays right? Alright then, it was my sweet 16 when I got interviewed and photographed for the BDD.
OR..just any bday where I have gotten to spend it with friends and family. Really the simple ones are the best! But the double black X's will always be remembered too:)

My favo birthday? Oh...most definetly my last birthday. I had finally reached the milestone of having a Golden Birthday when I turned 26. My birthday is November 26th, but since I was moving to Washington, it would be my first birthday NOT in Minnesota. So, my mom threw me a golden birthday party 2 months before my actual birthday and a day before we moved across the country. It was complete with my family, a golden table cloth, golden plates, and my favorite: Chocolate waffles for my birthday cake. And I got my Garmin GPS to help navigate to Washington.
PS HAPPY LATE BIRTHDAY LOVE!

First off...Happy Birthday!! I hope it was good one!!

I'm not sure I can pick just one memory!! When I was little my mom made my birthday the biggest day of the year. It was acutally my birthday week. Since we didn't have much money, she made do with the little things. She always got me a birthday outfit to wear to school. I also got to pick out the decorations for my b-day cake. How could I ever forget the cake coverd in red hots?? Doesn't that sound yummy?!?! I guess the most memorable would have to be my 9th b-day! I decided to have a sleep over with all my bestest girlfriends...which left like 5 girls in my class that weren't invited. Call me caddy, but they were the "scervy" girls...I can't believe I just typed that...slap me!! Anyway, at the time I hated that my mom MADE me invite those girls, but I'm SO glad she did. What a little brat was I?!? SO we all camped out on my living room floor, playing games, giggling...I was forced to sleep next to one of the "not so clean" girls for the night, and wouldn't you know I ended up with head lice a week later. Karma is a bitch, I tell you!! All my friends still talk about that night...the best was when my sweet mom came up and sang us all to sleep!!

I have many favorite birthday memories. When I was 8 I had a party at my house, games were played cake was eaten, fun was had... by all the party go-ers besides the birthday girl herself. Where was she? In her room crying almost the whole time singing "it's my party I can cry if I want to..." I have no idea what caused me to cry, but that party must have sucked.;)

But ultimately the winner has to be my 15th birthday (golden birthday.) My parents brought 3 of my favorite friends and I to Duluth for the weekend. The night before one of the attendees and I took an exess amount of No-Doze. Which made us have a No-Doze hang over for the whole first day of the weekend. That night, the 4 of us sat in a random hotel hallway and proceeded to tell eachother what we hated most about one another. Many tears were shed. But such great memories.

I have a lot of great birthday memories, but I think the one that is the most entertaining to reminisce about is my 21st. I had all my favorite gals come to visit me in Fargo. We partied together until it was time for me and the other 21-year-olds to go to the bar. I did my power-hour proud. My friends and boyfriend (now Hubs) had to carry me out of the bar (classy, I know). To this day, we all refer to me as the Wet Noodle when thinking of that night.

One of my favorite days EVER happens to be my 26th birthday. My now husband and I were on a road trip with our most favorite friends. We were at Rocky Mountain National Park on a beautiful hike. We got to your destination, Emerald Lake, and Jeff asked me if I wanted to climb a little higher while our friends took a water break. So, we climbed up the rocks a little higher to get a bird's eye view of the gorgeous green water. All of sudden, he was down on one knee asking me to marry him. It was a wonderful surprise (that I had been waiting for the entire roadtrip). My second favorite birthday was when I was 7. My aunt Sue made me an American Flag birthday cake with strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream. My grandma painted fireworks on my cheeks, and I ate my grandma's famous fry bread. It was a wonderful memory!
